Eye Surgery

Introduction

The Ophthalmology Department is the department responsible for patient with eye ailments. At Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre the Ophthalmology Department consist of:

  • Ophthalmology Clinic
  • Eye Operation Theatre
  • General ward & Day Care ward (Mixed with other surgical disciplines)
  • Facilities and Services

We have Ophthalmologist, Optometrists and trained Staff Nurses to manage the services:

Specialist Clinic

  • 1 Optometry Room
  • 1 Eye Procedure Room
  • 1 Laser Room (equipped with Argon, Yag laser)
  • 1 Visual Field Room

Operation Theatre

One theatre is dedicated to Ophthalmology department. The theatre is equipped with 1 latest Carl Zeiss microscope and 1 phaco machine

  • Day Care Ward
  • Normal Ward

Services

  1. Specialist outpatient services, inclusive of:
  • Minor surgery which is performed in the eye procedure room
  • Laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy cases and cases which require laser therapy
  • Optometry services such as refraction, visual field assessment, basic orthoptic assessment and diabetic retinopathy screening
  1. Inpatient services – patient who require inpatient treatment will be admitted to ward
  2. Surgical treatment – emergency and elective, including day care cases and inpatient cases
  3. Emergency services – A Medical Officer and Specialist will be available (on call basis) every day to provide 24 hours coverage
